Indie Doghouse
Indie Doghouse features four local musicians that play an uptempo mix of indie classics. You only need a vague familiarity with the indie world to recognise most of the tunes, from the likes of the Arctic Monkeys (I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor), Blur (Song 2), Stone Roses (Sally Cinnamon), James (Sit Down), etc. Look out for a particularly vibrant cover of the Fratelli's Chelsea Dagger and a good singalong Don't Look Back In Anger from Oasis, sans piano. We saw them play at the Albert on Smithfield Road, where the new owners have just begun to host live music nights. The set consisted mainly of track from the noughties, with a few nineties classics and one from the seventies – the Undertone's Teenage Kicks, which still more than holds its own among the more recent offerings.
